SAYPOST Beam technology combines architectural freedom, safe occupancy, and rapid construction. It provides ideal solutions for building safe, economical, and aesthetically pleasing multi-storey structures in earthquake-prone areas.

Advantages in Residential and Multi-Storey Buildings

Earthquake-Resistant Design

  • Saypost Composite Girder technology provides safe and economical structures in earthquake-prone areas.
  • Column splices are placed at the mid-height of floors, where seismic moments are minimal; column–beam connections remain undamaged after an earthquake.
  • Ensures that residential, hospital, school, and similar buildings can be safely used immediately after an earthquake.

Post-Earthquake Usability

  • With the SAYPOST Composite Steel System, you can continue to live comfortably in your building even after major earthquakes.
    • -Thanks to our composite steel column technology, the stirrup densification, which is crucial in conventional reinforced concrete structures, is automatically achieved through the outer steel shell.
    • Strong column principles are easily ensured thanks to the steel girder elements.
    • Steel girder–column connections are made using bolted joints, so the structural deformations and damages typically allowed in conventional reinforced concrete buildings after an earthquake do not occur.
    • Placing column splices at mid-floor height allows connections to be made in areas with the lowest moment loads.
    • In conventional reinforced concrete structures, the reinforcement of beams connecting to columns from all four sides creates densely congested rebar zones that cannot be properly cast, often resulting in damage during an earthquake. In SAYPOST columns, there is no such rebar congestion, allowing implementation exactly according to the design.

    Rapid Construction and Prefabricated Solutions

    • In urban transformation projects, while existing reinforced concrete buildings are being demolished and foundations prepared, Saypost-type buildings can be manufactured in a factory environment, with only on-site assembly required.
    • Four floors of the structural system can be assembled per week.
    • Columns exceeding 3–4 floors are delivered to the site as single, prefabricated elements.
    • Long cantilevers can be easily achieved with the SP system. Cantilever solutions of 3–6–9 m are implemented effectively using SP and in-situ post-tensioning systems, while 1–2 m cantilevers are constructed using conventional reinforced concrete slab cantilever systems.

    Column and Beam Systems

    • Columns are manufactured as box or tube profiles with an external steel shell, with reinforcement placed in the factory. After on-site bolted assembly, concrete is poured.
    • Beams are prefabricated and connected to columns using bolted connections.
    • Column–beam connections can be designed as rigid, pinned, or sliding.
    • Unlike conventional prefabricated reinforced concrete systems, SP column–beam connections do not require cantilevers, allowing for aesthetic connections without any loss in height. SP beams can be connected directly at the body level.

    Floor and Beam Heights

    • Lower beam heights allow for adequate floor heights, achieving floor-to-floor heights similar to conventional reinforced concrete structures.
    • No additional measures are needed for fire safety, as the system behaves like reinforced concrete.

    Prefabricated Floor Panels

    • Hollow precast floor panels
    • Galvanized composite floor panels
    • Reinforcement mesh and topping concrete are applied on the panels; finished levels are achieved with screed and flooring.
    • No formwork or scaffolding is required.

    Façade and Insulation Advantages

    • Walls can be constructed with conventional brick, Y-Tong, or block, and finished with plaster or external insulation.
    • Panel and cladding façades can be applied more easily and economically compared to conventional reinforced concrete structures.

    Basement and Foundation Solutions

    • Basements are also constructed using the SP column–beam–floor system. After excavation, reinforced concrete foundations are applied, and once SP columns, beams, and floor panels are installed, reinforced concrete shear walls are applied along the perimeter. Floor slabs are connected to these walls to transfer shear forces.
    • Reinforced concrete shear walls along the perimeter ensure that floor slabs effectively transfer loads, providing durable basements with reliable waterproofing and corrosion resistance.

    Design Solutions

The staircase and elevator core areas in multi-storey buildings are designed to resist lateral seismic loads in two ways:

    • The core area is designed as conventional reinforced concrete shear walls, implemented using climbing or slip form systems for fast on-site application. Steel beam–BAP connections are easily made with simple embedded plates. Thanks to the reduced weights of columns, beams, and slabs with the SAYPOST system, buildings achieve approximately 1.5 times higher earthquake resistance compared to conventional BAP shear wall systems, while stair and elevator details follow standard practices.
    • The core area is constructed with diagonal bracing, as in conventional steel solutions. This method is preferred in high-rise buildings, weak soil conditions, or areas with very high seismic loads, to further reduce building weight.
In every job that requires engineering and effort, we strive to do the undoable and reach the unattainable.
